BRILLIANCE EXPOSED
A Photographic Exhibition featuring men and women of color in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math – STEAM.
This exploration of the accomplishments of African-American men and women reveals a vibrant tapestry of resilience, creativity, and innovation that has shaped history and continues to inspire future generations. This project is more than a photographic collection; it’s a celebration of diversity, cultural heritage, and the power of textured representation. Through the lens of Black Aestheticism, we challenge conventional narratives and highlight the unique brilliance, creativity, and cultural expressions that define brilliance in Black presenting skin.
This perspective emphasizes the significance of representation, self-expression, and authenticity, ultimately shaping the narrative of brilliance to be inclusive of black voices and perspectives. It is also an invitation for the broader national and global community to experience the brilliance of men and women of color. Given our current social and political conversation around race, this project firmly aligns with diversity, equity, and inclusion, inviting us to go beyond skin color and experience the brilliance of all humanity.
Alexis Dixon, the founder and curator of BRILLIANCE EXPOSED, allowed me to give voice to his powerful mission.
